Hollywood Hillary

Back in late September, I decided to watch a little TV. I remembered that Americans Broadcasting Communism (ABC to the lay-person) was starting a new political show, Commander In Chief. I decided to watch that.

If you aren't familiar with the show, Geena Davis (liberal) plays the role of Independent Party VP Allen. She was in private life until she accepted the VP nomination. In a stroke of luck she's catapulted into the Presidency upon the death of the President (Republican). Donald Sutherland (very liberal) plays the Speaker of the House (Republican) who fights against the new President at every turn, because he wants the job.

In the first episode, in addition to learning of the President's death and moving into the White House, she wants to rescue a pregnant Muslim woman in Africa who is going to be put to death for adultery. The African country bluffs that they'll kill any American who comes in to rescue her. The new President calls the bluff, and the woman is rescued. High-fives all around.

Not bad for a pilot. I'd like to see less instigation and pettiness from a devout liberal playing a devout Republican.

The next week, I decided to watch again. Time to pick a new VP. The Speaker of the House wants one person, she wants another. He stabs her in the back by naming who he wants. She fumes and calls in her choice, then announces it to the world, with no consultation, which furies the Speaker.

Ok, this is getting a little childish. One more try.

Week 3. A DEA agent is killed in some jerkwater South American country. Allen wants to arrest the killer, Speaker doesn't. Allen sticks to her guns, and no Americans are killed in the op to bring the killer to justice.

3 times now, the President has stuck to her guns, done what she thought was right, against public opinion, and wins with no bloodshed.

What would a real-life female President do if she stuck to her guns and did what she thought was right? Would she win every time? According to Americans Broadcasting Communism, she would.

And who is the biggest Dem ready to run for the White House? Mrs. Hillary Clinton. 2008 will feature President Allen doing all the right things, to show that Mrs. Clinton can do it as well.

Lets look at the parallels, shall we?

Allen, in private life before she became VP. Clinton, in private life before she became Senator.

Allen, woman. Clinton, woman (kinda).

Allen, promoted all the "right causes" while she was VP. Clinton, promoting all the "right causes" while in the Senate.

Allen, not squeamish about using American troops to further her revenge. Clinton, not squeamish about using American troops to further her political agenda.

These will be drawn on during the campaign of 2008.

And now, to set herself up, Hillary is taking a "let's wait and see" approach to the troop pull-out in Iraq. http://www.breitbart.com/news/2005/11/23/051123234916.im6qdj1m.html

In the article, Hillary is quoted as saying, "My approach is we tell them we expect you to meet these certain benchmarks and that means getting troops and police officers trained, equipped and ready to defend their people."

Hillary, in recent months, after voting to give President Bush the power to invade Iraq, then turned against the war. Now, she's turning into a right-wing hawk.

What will she change into in 2008? I hope we don't have to find out.
